Stop stressing: Christmas Dinner is in the Freezer

The Joy of Preplanning

The Joy of Preplanning

On the twelfth week of Christmas my dinner’s in the freeze…  I can’t believe I haven’t thought of this sooner.  I am use to using my freezer to relieve the stress of parties.  Why not the Christmas season?

  • Week 12 (before Christmas): Freezer Friendly Christmas dinner menu and Thanksgiving (if your ambitious enough).  Also, plan any events that you want to have.
  • Week 11: Cook for Christmas (and Thanksgiving)
  • Week 10: Gift lists and cards …start buying
  • Week 9:  Start making homemade gifts (Help kids and do your own)
  • Week 7:  Christmas Cookies that can be frozen
  • Week 6:  Get the decorations ready (I like to decorate…all but the table.  At least get them out of the attic.)
  • Week 5:  Thanksgiving
  • Week 4:  Advent Starts
  • –The rest of the weeks will be filled with Christmas Fun–

What is on the Allergy Free, Frozen Christmas Menu?

  • Braised Beef
  • Frozen Mashed Potatoes: 5 lbs red potatoes, 1/4 cup coconut butter, 2 cups almond milk, 1 1/2 tsp salt, 2 tsp garlic powder, 2 tsp onion powder.
  • Pumpkin or Coconut Cake for Jesus Birthday Cake (I haven’t decided yet.)  I’ll frost it the day before.
  • Challah Bread (GF,DF,EF, SF)
  • Sauteed green beans with onions, garlic and balsamic vinegar (The beans are frozen, but I’m cooking them that day.)

Fun Christ Centered Ideas:

  • Shepherds Night: (Click to see post)
  • Advent Conspiracy: (Click to see website)
  • Cookie Exchange: Have four friends bake four batches of the same cookies.  Put each batch in separate containers and meet to share.  You will have four different cookies with less effort. –It is easier to bake a hugh batch of one type, than four different cookies.
  • Operation Christmas Child: (Click to see website)  Take the kids to the store.  Read the suggestions and let them pick things out.  Let them use their allowance to buy the items.  You can find out where the box was delivered on the internet.
  • Volunteer at a local food bank:  Bring some food with you.  You can also help sort food.
